Family Law Göttingen

A symposium organized by Prof. Dr. Barbara Veit and Prof. Dr. Philipp M. Reuß will take place on 28 June 2024 to mark the 200th anniversary of Gottlieb Planck's birth. Further information will follow shortly.

The new episode of our #familiensachen podcast is online. In episode 18, the focus is once again on the community of responsibility. Along with Prof. Dr. Isabell Götz and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Volker Lipp we look at the question of what urgently needs to be regulated in the area of non-marital communities. We will also be listening to excerpts from the lectures given at the Göttingen workshop on family law.

For the winter semester 2023/24, Dipl.-Rpfl. Dagmar Zorn, a proven practitioner, could be won as a lecturer for family law. In her lecture, Ms. Zorn will focus on family procedural law with inheritance law. The lecture follows on from the lectures in family and inheritance law and goes into greater depth on the important procedural principles. Differences to civil proceedings are elaborated and, in addition to the special features of individual family court disputes (divorce proceedings, parentage, custody, contact and maintenance proceedings), the basic features of the inheritance certificate proceedings are also elaborated on the basis of practically relevant cases. It is primarily aimed at students in the main focus (focus 3), but is also ideally suited for exam preparation and for preparing for the family and inheritance law courses as part of the exam course. Dipl.-Rpfl. DAGMAR ZORN, a proven practitioner and commentator (§§ 151-157, 167-168a [Dutta/Jacoby/Schwab]; §§ 342-373 FamFG [Prütting/Helms]; 1835-1849, 1808 BGB, §§ 1-6 VBVG [Staudinger, forthcoming]) with many years of teaching experience (HWR Berlin), has been recruited for the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen.

The new episode of our #familiensachen podcast is online. Episode 16 is about the cooperation between the youth welfare office (Jugendamt) and the family court (Familiengericht). Our guest is Prof. Dr. Barbara Seidenstücker, who, as a graduate pedagogue and professor of social work, not only trains future youth welfare office employees, but also conducts research on cooperation in child welfare proceedings.

The new site is intended to provide an overview of the Research Center for Family Law at the University of Göttingen and, in addition to the researchers, also presents teaching and events related to family law at Göttingen University.

A new episode of the #familiensachen podcast has been released. Episode 14 is about the welfare of parents in the legal discussion about the alternating model. The guest is Prof. Dr. Anja Steinbach, she reports on the new results of her research project "Family Models in Germany" and how parents feel with the different care models after separation.
